All About Milt

Milt Priggee was born July 6, 1953 in Anchorage, Alaska, but grew up in the Chicago area. He graduated from Adams State College at Alamosa, Colorado in 1976 with a major in fine arts.

After college Priggee met his mentor, John Fischetti, in Chicago. Fischetti helped Priggee start freelancing. His work appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and The Chicago Daily News.

Beginning in 1978, he was the regular cartoonist for the weekly Crain's Chicago Business. The Journal Herald in Dayton, Ohio hired Priggee in July of 1982. When the Journal Herald ceased publication in 1986, he landed at The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Washington, in February 1987. From 2000-2001, Milt attended the University of Michigan on a Journalism Fellowship. Currently he is nationally syndicated with CagleCartoons from his base in Oak Harbor, WA, where he continues to produce cartoons on local, national and world topics.

His work has been reprinted in Time, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, and CNN's Headline News.

He has been an award winner in the Associated Press Society of Ohio, Mencken Awards, National Newspaper Association, Overseas Press Club, the Small Business Foundation of America, Inc., Pacific Northwest Journalists, the Fischetti Editorial Cartoon, and The First Iran Internet Cartoon contests.

Milt is married to Janet, father of Sarah and Eric and grandpa to Tanner and Lily.
